According to the New York State Department of Health, 10 Lewisboro residents have tested positive for Covid-19. Guided by the consensus of the Town Board, Police Department, Department of Parks & Recreation and Chair of the Emergency Management Committee, we have, effective tomorrow, closed all large parking lots prohibiting traffic admittance to certain parks and preserves, and all those with playground equipment. This will effectively limit entry, other than foot traffic, to Leon Levy, Lewisboro Town Park, Onatru Farm Park, Fox Valley Park and Vista Park. This decision was difficult to arrive at as we did a collaborative risk vs benefit analysis. No one party came out with their proposed plan intact, but we are guided by the belief that a collaborative outcome born out of diverse viewpoints yields the best result. The decision does not indicate that we think you should stay indoors if you seek some peace of mind from the out of doors. Fresh air and a brisk walk are good for the head and the heart. Sitting on your back porch in the sun for 20 minutes can provide some needed Vitamin D while easing symptoms of depression and anxiety – especiallysecondary to Seasonal Affective Disorder. Gardening is a great way to spend time outside, get exercise and you can do it in the relative safety of your own yard. Also, if you have ever considered meditating as a mental health or overall wellbeingstrategy – now is the time.
