As summer slowly approaches, the one thing we’re most excited for is ice cream. With ice cream on the brain, we strolled through Scott’s Corners in Pound Ridge to hear about some of the weirdest ice cream flavors people have ever tried. Some sounded surprisingly good, others… not so much.

Drew, Katonah

Katonah Connect: What is the weirdest ice cream flavor you’ve ever tried?

Drew: Vodka and chocolate.

KC: Where did you find it?

D: At this ice cream store called OddFellows next to my old apartment in Brooklyn.

KC: How did it taste?

D: Weird – a bad weird. But they were just experimenting with it, and I applaud them for it.

KC: Why did you choose that ice cream?

D: I wanted some vodka, and I thought it was funny.

KC: What was more prominent, the vodka or the chocolate?

D: They were trying for both to be, but I’d say the vodka was because it was hard to cover that up.

KC: Did it get you drunk at all?

D: No, it wasn’t enough.

Samantha, Katonah

Katonah Connect: What is the weirdest ice cream flavor you’ve ever tried?

Samantha: My favorite ice cream flavor that is not super normal is black sesame. I love it so much; I crave it.

KC: Why do you love it so much?

S: It’s delicious; it’s interesting because it’s more savory versus sweet.

KC: Is there a specific ice cream place that has this flavor?

S: I only know this one place called Sundaes and Cones in Manhattan. And you know, I kind of want it right now. I would drive to the city for it right now, it’s that good.

Esther, Pound Ridge

Katonah Connect: What is the weirdest ice cream flavor you’ve ever tried?

Esther: Lavender and lemon.

KC: How did it taste?

E: Bad, it wasn’t good. I guess I just don’t like lavender.

KC: Where did you get it?

E: Jeni’s Ice Cream

KC: What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

E: Probably mint chocolate chip. It’s just the best.

Gio, Armonk

Katonah Connect: What is the weirdest ice cream flavor you’ve ever tried?

Gio: Maple bacon.

KC: How did it taste?

G: Salty.

KC: Is that what you want in ice cream, saltiness?

G: A little salty, a little sweet– that’s the best. It’s really good.

KC: What made you want to try that flavor?

G: I saw it on the menu and I was like, “Yeah, give me that.” I like sweet-salty things. Bacon on ice cream, that just sounded incredible.

Kristen, Pound Ridge

Katonah Connect: What is the weirdest ice cream flavor you’ve ever tried?

Kristen: Oh no! I’m so boring. I literally only get like one kind of ice cream ever.

KC: What flavor is that?

K: Cookies and Cream. It’s simple, it’s not shocking or strange – plus it’s like two desserts in one!

KC: If there was ever a weird ice cream you would try, what would it be?

K: Maybe potato chip ice cream? It would have the crunchy, the salty, the creamy. Yeah, potato chips and ice cream, two of my favorites.
